The Crafted Trail

We offer small group adventure travel tours that explore regional cuisines, farm based breweries, distilleries and wineries. We could not be more delighted that the farm to table artisanal food movement in America has become part of the modern collective conscious. To us, knowing the origins of our food has always been a way of life. We are excited to offer road trips and active travel tours that celebrate local food and support farmlands to sustain them for the next generation. Our team has over 20 years experience each working for the biggest names in the small group adventure travel market in the US, leading guests from all over the world throughout the USA, Canada and tours to Mexico.

Day 1: NYC to Albany, NY
Meet & greet in NYC in the morning with your new tour mates for an orientation about the exciting week ahead. Afterwards, we travel north to New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley region, an area known for its natural beauty with mountain peaks, rolling farmlands and one of the largest apple producing regions in the USA. We will take a group hike in the stunning Mohonk Preserve with its dramatic cliffs and views of the Catskill Mountain range. After our hike, we will go to the Brooklyn Cider House to sample their crisp, dry ciders and celebrate the bounty of this famous apple growing region.
In the late afternoon we will drive to Albany; where we will have a meal in one of the city’s outstanding restaurants and settle into our hotel for the night.

Day 2: Albany, NY to Burlington, VT
Today we explore the rugged beauty of Vermont; the Green Mountain State, stopping to sample the flavors of the state throughout the day. Driving along the must-see Route 100, you will feel like you’ve entered a Norman Rockwell painting from a by-gone era. Famous for its pastoral farmlands and agricultural bounty, we will make multiple stops along the route at various cider mills, dairy farms, breweries and maple sugar shacks, exploring the flavours that make Vermont farm products so desirable. Some highlights along the route include Long Trail Brewery, Cabot Creamery and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory. The State of Vermont also holds the distinction of having the most breweries per capita, giving us many options for exploring a variety of beer styles along our travels. After indulging in all the culinary delights, we arrive in the lively university town of Burlington for the night and explore the nightlife and award winning breweries that have earned Burlington the distinction of one of the best “beer cities” in the USA.

Day 3: Burlington, VT to Woodstock, NH
The morning will be free to further explore downtown Burlington with its car-free centre and interesting shops and cafes. In the afternoon we head towards New Hampshire, with a quick stop for retail purchases at the award winning farm based brewery of Hill Farmstead for some of their well crafted exclusive beers to take away. Arriving in Franconia Notch State Park, we will take a group hike in the park before heading to Woodstock, NH for the evening.

Day 4: Woodstock, NH to Bar Harbor, ME
We start our day traversing the White Mountains of New Hampshire along the Kancamagus Highway; known as one of the most scenic drives in the U.S. Plenty of stops along the way for photographing the landscape and taking short hikes to enjoy the remote wilderness of the area. We continue on through the State of Maine, arriving in Bar Harbor for the evening where we will have free time to explore the waterfront and downtown shops, breweries and a group dinner on the water.

Day 5: Bar Harbor, ME
We will spend the entire day exploring Acadia National Park, visiting all the highlights of the park and a group hike on Cadillac Mountain. In the evening, we return back to town where you will have the opportunity to participate in an optional Sunset Whale Watching Tour.

Day 6: Bar Harbor, ME to Boston, MA
We take the scenic coastal route as we travel south today, stopping in picturesque villages and roadside clam shacks for lunch. We head to Freeport, ME; headquarters of the most known product in Maine; LL Bean. Free time to shop in the outlets in the village that LL Bean built. We also visit the colonial city of Portsmouth, NH to explore the thriving downtown of this historic port city and its famous breweries. Arriving in Boston, we will dine in Cambridge with free time to explore the campus of Harvard University in the evening.

Day 7: Boston, MA
A free day to explore Boston today. Walk the length of the Freedom Trail, taking in the historical sites of the city. An opportunity to tour the Harpoon brewery, visit Fenway Park and the most well known bar in Boston, Cheers! You guide will make tailored suggestions according to your interests.

Day 8: Boston, MA to New York City
As we make our way back to New York, we will make various stops along coastal New England towns. Depending on weather we may stop at the beach for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean, artsy small coastal communities or a stop in the hip college town of Providence. A last group lunch together before we drive to the hotel in New York City for the end of the tour.
