More Products from Auswalk

Day 1:

Starts at Mt Victoria any time after 2pm. There is no walking scheduled for today but there are several galleries and coffee shops in the village to explore.
Accommodation: Mt Victoria

Day 2:

The walk begins with an easy climb to the highest point in the mountains, Mt Piddington, followed by a descent through remote forest into the heart of Cox’s Cave. Marvel at the tenacity of the early explorers who forged a route through this rugged terrain!

There’s more remote walking this afternoon as you explore the first pretty canyon, emerging into a huge natural rock amphitheatre.

Finish the day with a stroll through magnificent rhododendron gardens nearby.
Walking summary: 12km with an optional 3-4km at the rhododendron gardens, approx 4-5 hrs plus an optional 1-2 hrs at the gardens, about half is easy and the rest varies from moderately undulating to steep and slippery in wet conditions, walking tracks most of the way and short sections of road at the start and end of the day.
Accommodation: Blackheath

Day 3:

Skirt around sheer cliff tops to see Bridal Veil Falls plummet 180 metres in a single drop! Enjoy breathtaking views from Govetts Leap and Pulpit Rock Lookout, discover why the Blue Mountains appear “blue”.

Walking summary: 16km, approx 5.5 – 6 hrs walking time, includes some steep, uneven terrain and a few river crossings on boulders.
Accommodation: Blackheath

Day 4:

Take an exhilarating ride down the Scenic Railway into the depths of the rainforest and see relics left by coal miners over 100 years ago. Elusive lyrebirds are often seen here. Lunch today will be shared with flocks of cheeky currawongs at an impressive rocky outcrop called Ruined Castle.

The optional Furber Challenge climbs steeply through dense rainforest past delightful waterfalls and pretty grottoes.

Walking summary: 16-17.5km, approx 5-6.5 hrs, mostly easy walking except for crossing the old landslide which is moderate
Accommodation: Katoomba

Day 5:

Learn the Aboriginal legend of how the famous 3 Sisters were formed as you descend the 862 steps of the Giant Stairway.

Away from the throng of tourists and into the depths of Leura Forest. Delicate ferns and mosses hug the rainforest trees, as filtered sunlight creates a magical scene.

Walking summary: 9-11.5km, 4-4.5hrs, starts with a very steep descent then undulating walking with quite a few sections of steps and ladders.
Accommodation: Leura

Day 6:

The setting for the grand finale is Waterfall Valley. The route winds its way past waterfalls, beneath overhanging cliffs and through magnificent grottoes.

A real highlight is the “mid-cliff” walk along a wide path that has been carved into the sheer cliff face (see left)! Handrails, ladders and airy lookouts provide a birds-eye view over hundreds of miles of forests. Finish with the refreshing spray from Wentworth Falls.

Walking summary: 10-15km, 3.5-5.5 hrs, about half is reasonably easy and well graded, the rest involves steep ups and downs including steps and ladders.
Accommodation: Leura

Day 7:

This holiday finishes after breakfast, when you will be transported to the Leura train station for connections to Sydney or back to the start of the trip to collect your car.
