This 8 day adventure is a good introduction to the Chilean capital of Santiago and Patagonia, a vast and virtually untouched landscape famous for its dramatic mountain scenery and giant glaciers.
Our tour starts in the capital city of Santiago, based at the foot of the Andes and founded in 1541, it now boasts a population of nearly 7 million. We will spend a full day exploring the cities historical downtown and hip neighborhoods. Next off were headed to Punta Arenas Chile’s southernmost city and gateway to Patagonia.
We continue from Punta Arenas to the beautiful port city of Puerto Natales from where we will base several day tours. The first being an excursion to Torres del Paine which offers unparalleled panoramic views of windswept lakes, bright blue glaciers and of course the world famous Towers of Paine. The second is a daylong cruise to the captivating Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers. Enroute we have the opportunity to view sea lions, Andean condors, elephant seals and several cormorant colonies right from the deck of the ship.
Having had a chance to see the Chilean side of Patagonia we will cross the border into Argentina and spend several nights in El Calafate our base for a visit to Los Glaciares National Park. The fantastic views of Lago Argentino and Glaciar Perito Moreno are the highlight of our day long tour of Los Glaciares. Leaving El Calafate we will return to Punta Arenas for our flight back to Santiago.
